Vac310 and Vac410 are Now Retort Bar Capable!
“…we have seen the demand for retort packaging grow due to its benefits, even in commercial settings.”
Are you looking to expand your packaging endeavors to include more heavy-duty bags and retort canning?
In the past, we did not recommend sealing special high mil bags such as mylar or retort pouches with our Vac310 and Vac410. The heat strips simply could not withstand that amount of heat. Now, you can incorporate retort packaging options with the new Vac310 or Vac410 retort seal bar assemblies, making these units stand out even more against our competition!
What is Retort Packaging?
Retort packaging is an alternative to the traditional canning process. Retort pouches are manufactured with thin layers of special metal and plastic materials to withstand the amount of heat needed for sterilization. But unlike rigid packaging, flexible packaging allows the packaging to form to the shape or volume of the product.
The standard seal bars are not equipped to ensure proper seal integrity for these special bags. Retort bars are specifically equipped with a 3.5mm wide, concave heat strip. The heat and pressure are amplified along the narrow ridge for optimal sealing integrity.
Benefits of Retort Packaging
Long-Term Food Storage: Retort packaging combines the benefits of sterilization and vacuum sealing all in one. Especially for foods such as tuna, poultry, and pet food, this option is super-hygienic allowing products to be shelf-stable that are otherwise, not.
Cheaper: Retort packaging is a great option for any commercial business! Flexible packaging utilizes much less material than rigid packaging options such as mason jars or metal cans. The less material used to package the same amount of product saves you money and produces less waste!
Saves Space: The option to vacuum seal saves you room instead of utilizing half-filled mason jars that take up unnecessary space.
High-Quality Appearance: Retort packaging also provides a high-quality packaging appearance if you are looking to stand out from your competitors. Easy branding is possible as retort and mylar bags apply a stand-up barrier. Display your brand or design on the side of the bag for customers to recognize!
It’s a win-win all around!
